The first Woombie prototype was created when mother and nurse Karen Barski found herself in need of a solution to help her newborn sleep safely. After many sleepless nights, Karen took to her grandmother’s sewing machine and created the very first Woombie swaddle – and it worked!

With over twenty awards, Woombie swaddles aim to ease the “womb-to-world” transition for babies and parents alike, all while prioritizing health, safety, and comfort.

Karen is a graduate of St. Vincent’s College of nursing and earned her BSN from Sacred Heart University in 1994. With a thirty-year nursing background and five kids of her own, Karen identifies the needs of parents and babies, which always brings her to the drawing board to design new innovative product.

What if my baby cries while being swaddled?

Crying during or shortly after swaddling is not a sign that your baby does not like to be swaddled. They leave the confinement of the womb to a world of wide open space, and need time to adjust to the concept of space. Swaddling helps them to feel more relaxed, secure and in control of their rigorous involuntary movements.

My baby has a really chunky neck. Can I customize the Woombie neck width?

Absolutely. Unzip the top zipper 1 inch so the puller rests at the base of the chin flap. This opens the “neck hole” 2 inches.
